The Sino-Ghana Research Center for West Africa (SGRCWA), in collaboration with the School of Foreign Studies and Trade (SFST) of Hubei University of Automotive Technology (HUAT), has organized an academic seminar on “Translanguaging Practices in the English Classroom in Ghana.”

The interactive session was held on Monday, 15 December 2025, from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm at The Industry Building (SX301), HUAT. The event brought together faculty members, postgraduate students, and researchers interested in language education, applied linguistics, and African studies.

The seminar was moderated by Dr. Lemuel Gbologah, Director of SGRCWA and SFST, HUAT. Facilitation was led by James Gyimah Manu, a Doctoral Candidate and a lecturer in the Department of English at the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CoHSS), Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Ghana, and a Doctoral Visiting Scholar at SFST, HUAT.

Discussions centered on the function of translanguaging as an educational strategy within Ghanaian English classrooms, emphasizing its significance for learning achievements, linguistic inclusivity, and language policy in multilingual environments.

The seminar is an integral component of SGRCWA’s continuing academic engagement series, designed to augment Ghana–China scholarly collaboration and encourage research on language, education, and socio-cultural transformation in West Africa.
