Hosted as part of the 20th Foreign Studies and Trade Culture Festival, the event aimed to foster mutual understanding and appreciation between Chinese and African cultures through interactive exhibitions, performances, and hands-on activities centered around intangible cultural heritage.
Master of Ceremonies guided the audience seamlessly through the program, delivering announcements and introductions in English, Chinese, German, and Japanese, reflecting the international spirit of the event.

The opening ceremony featured a keynote address by Prof. Zhang Hongxia, Vice President of HUAT, who emphasized the importance of cultural understanding and collaboration in today’s global context. Leaders from the Intangible Cultural Heritage Center and the School of Foreign Studies and Trade also extended warm welcomes, setting the tone for a rich and engaging program.
Cultural performances included a dynamic demonstration of Wudang martial arts and a rhythmic, high-energy African drum dance. Attendees then explored a series of interactive experience zones:
·Heritage Discovery Zone: A quiz-based activity highlighting ICH knowledge.
·Flavors Experience Zone: A cross-cultural food challenge using chopsticks and forks.
·Automotive Art Puzzle: A hands-on team puzzle with car design themes.
·Culture Pavilion Zone: Traditional clothing and musical instruments from China and Africa.
·Poetry Recitation Corner: Live recitations from a curated “Poetry Wall.”
Participants collected stamps at each zone, and those with a fully stamped “Cultural Passport” received a commemorative souvenir.
Open to all faculty and students, the event highlighted the shared beauty of Chinese and African cultural heritage and reaffirmed HUAT’s commitment to fostering global understanding through education and exchange.
